"...the player to be named later." VisArts Center, Rockville MD 2019 A site-responsive installation rooted in the ceiling and the walls of the gallery. Made from twisted salvaged demolition rebar, constructed of strangely-bent neon which mimics and riffs on the rebar. Recycled laboratory clamps hold the fragile neon close to the steel. Cast bronze sculptures and resin-soaked photographs mounted to shattered glass complete the mix. Independent of the usual neutral gallery lighting, the installation illuminates itself both from the back and the front...eerily reminiscent of a deep-water fish living in darkness below the sunlight. |
